London Design Festival
De La Espada at Tramshed 2011
From 22-25 September as part of London Design Festival, De La Espada and our seven designer-led brands will exhibit at Tramshed 2011, launching over 20 new products. We proudly launch collaboration with two new brands at the event, Søren Rose Studio and Benjamin Hubert. New products include:
Søren Rose Studio
Søren Rose Studio launches collaboration with De La Espada through the outstanding Park Avenue Collection. Nine products will make their debut at Tramshed 2011, combining the best of the Scandinavian furniture tradition with a New York contemporary feeling. The collection exhibits true craftsmanship while exploring new material combinations including cork, marble, aluminum, brass, fabric and natural wood. Using solid, beautiful materials, the collection is simple in nature yet obsessive in detail, resulting in long-lasting, timeless pieces that offer a fresh take on modern living.
Studioilse will show the Companions family of furniture, designed to support daily life. The family includes a bed and bedside table available in white oiled chestnut with cork bowls as storage for private bits. In addition is a slim writing desk, proportioned to fit in the spaces in between. Also launching are the Sidekicks, a series of small occasional tables that live throughout the home to accommodate our different activities.
Matthew Hilton will launch two new products to his eponymous brand. HAL is a glass top coffee table with an interlocking Corian base. Available in two sizes and a choice of black or white Corian. Also launching is Maia, an object of non-specified use that can be used as a side table, stool or step. Maia is made from solid wood and features complex joinery created by CNC technology. Both products reflect Matthew Hilton’s signature attention to detail and love of craft - both technological and traditional.
Autoban will launch six new products manufactured by De La Espada. Daisy Coffee Table and Daisy Lamp have organic forms crafted from solid oak or walnut. Pill lamp is a tabletop lamp available in three sizes, with an industrial form that casts striking ambient light. Zenovitch is a luxurious chandelier in painted and gold-plated steel that reinterprets historic Turkish influences through a contemporary lens. Slice chair is a slatted solid wood chair inspired by garden furniture, available with or without upholstery. Suite Bed features a dramatic wrap-around timber headboard softened with upholstery. The products reflect Autoban’s signature aesthetic, which combines diverse influences, textures and materials to create bold, statement pieces.
Leif.designpark will introduce the first bed to their collection, Suu, which combines timber, upholstery and storage options for a quiet, comfortable, and functional bedroom. Also launching is Al lamp, a painted aluminium pendant available in two sizes. New options for existing products include painted versions of Tone Kids Table and Tone Kids Chair, and a marble tabletop for Lily Family.
Charlene Mullen will launch new cushions from the Plectrum range, featuring bold shapes created with tapestry wool couched down onto natural linen. Largely monochrome, the motif is broken up with a light dose of vibrant colour. Also launching are new colourways of existing designs including Chicken Wire, Big Jax and Small Jax.
Benjamin Hubert will launch a range of furniture and lighting in collaboration with De La Espada. Inline with Benjamin Hubert’s material-led design process, the project utilises a range of natural materials including, granite, ash, marble, blown glass and leather in a celebration of the handmade. The raw materials are given an industrial edge with an emphasis on new construction techniques, a progressive typology and a function-led minimal aesthetic.
The Tramshed event returns to the London Design Festival for its second year. A complete lifestyle event, Tramshed 2011 offers everything from furniture and lighting to cookware, cosmetics, textiles, ceramics, music, and fantastic food housed in an artful pop-up cafe. A departure from traditional trade exhibitions, the event aims to inform and entertain both professionals and the public alike.
The Tramshed 2011 Seminar Series is a provocative and entertaining series of discussions with designers, manufacturers, producers, and journalists intended to stimulate conversation and foster connections. Conducted by Sam Grawe, former Editor-in-Chief of Dwell and regular speaker on design, it will address the broad scope of issues facing the contemporary design field and highlight the diversity of approaches being undertaken.
